2013 Thank You from Bruce Leshine
To all of our runners, volunteers, race partners and friends throughout Massachusetts and beyond, who joined us on the 2013 Mass Dash this past weekend:
Six years ago, in the darkness and driving rain of one of many team relay races that we had run over several years, I couldn’t stop thinking about a very dear friend who couldn’t join us on these adventures any longer because he was deep into his own life-and-death fight with cancer. That rainy night sowed the seed of a dream. I want to thank all of you for making that dream come true.
We can’t thank you enough! You’ve worked incredibly hard, and you’ve shared your hearts, your souls and your legs racing across Massachusetts on a summer weekend, dedicated to raising awareness and funds to support family, friends and neighbors in the fight against cancer. You have made all of this possible, and it could not have happened without you. This past weekend, over 400 runners and volunteers raced and worked through Massachusetts, and together have raised over $135,000 for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute! In the four years of the Mass Dash, you have collectively raised over $465,000 in the fight against cancer--- You are all to be commended for this outstanding achievement. And we have had one unbelievable time doing it! We have accomplished some things that we all can be very proud of…
Congratulations to Best in the West, the fastest team in the 2013 Mass Dash, and to Sofia’s Cancer Crushers, our top fundraising team!!!
All of our teams and runners have until July 31 to keep fundraising for the 2013 Mass Dash and hit the team or individual runner fundraising commitments.
The 2013 Mass Dash race results will be posted on the Race Results page at www.massdashrelay.org. We will also be posting pictures here very soon. And stay in touch with what’s going on with the Mass Dash post-race on Facebook at www.facebook.com/massdashrelay.
Finally, there isn't anyone else that I'd rather spend an amazing and entirely sleepless weekend with than all of you. We hope you'll join us again next year for the 2014 Mass Dash! Thank you...

Introducing the Half Dash, New for 2013 !
New for Mass Dash Weekend in 2013 will be the Half Dash! The Half Dash will take place on Saturday, July 13th, 2013, alongside the Mass Dash. But instead of running all the way across Massachusetts over two days, our “Half Dashers” will start from the foot of Mount Greylock and “only” run 85 miles across the first eighteen race legs of the Mass Dash to the half-way point of the Mass Dash at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst in one day, finishing with a party on Saturday night at UMass!
Make Your Miles Matter !
There will be no team registration fees for the 2013 Mass Dash or Half Dash. Instead, upon runner online registration with a credit card, each runner in the Mass Dash and Half Dash will make a commitment to collect charitable pledges to the Jimmy Fund (Dana-Farber Cancer Institute) of $300 or more, in order to run. Only if a runner’s fundraising commitment is not met by July 21 will the credit card be charged for the difference between the actual fundraising total and the $300 commitment. So there is no registration fee at all as long as each team’s runners each raise $300.
High School Teams: what's different?
As with all team categories, High School teams have no team registration fees for the 2013 Mass Dash or Half Dash. Instead, upon runner online registration with a credit card, each runner in the Mass Dash and Half Dash will make a commitment to collect charitable pledges to the Jimmy Fund (Dana-Farber Cancer Institute) of $200 or more, in order to run. Only if a runner’s fundraising commitment is not met by July 21 will the credit card be charged for the difference between the actual fundraising total and the $200 commitment. So there is no registration fee at all as long as each team’s runners each raise $200.
